Cosmogirl’s School of Style Event - New York
October 02, 09:53 AM

Did you know I have other passions outside of gaming? It’s true!  Gaming doesn’t consume every aspect of my life.  When I’m not playing World of Warcraft or practicing for MLG’s, I read fashion magazines.  I love them all… Elle, Vogue, Cosmo!  So when a few of the Frag Doll were invited to walk the runway for the CosmoGirl’s School of Style event, I was one of the first to volunteer.  The event was more than I imagined.  For one night I got to pretend I was one of those models I sometimes cut out and post on my bulletin board in my closet.  Psyche, Seppuku, and I got to walk the red carpet, get made up by the top hair and makeup stylist and walk next to real New York models on the runway.  My nights were similar to Cinderella’s – minus the prince and replace the glass slippers with a cute pair of leopard print Betsey Johnsons.  The audience was made up of 500 CosmoGirl readers anywhere from ages 12 to 20.  This made the event a perfect place to promote Fashion Designer, a DS game developed by Ubisoft.  For the first time we were surrounded by girls, a completely different experience than what we are used to. We got to also teach the girls how to play the new Raving Rabbits game.  I thought it might be hard to pull tween girls away from listening to Brody …

Brooke Hattabaugh, also known as Brookelyn from the all-girl gaming team the
Frag Dolls, is a competitive gamer hired by Ubisoft.  Brooke, at five years of age, received her first Nintendo video game system and has been happy with her addiction to video games ever since.  Although gaming has always been a big part of her life, she decided to move her status as a “causal girl gamer” to the more serious title: “professional gamer.”

In 2002, Brooke joined the all-girl video game clan, PMS.  This is the clan that prepared and propelled her to her career as a professional gamer. She became comfortable with playing as a team, broadened her communication skills during competitive matches and developed leadership skills, later needed as a professional gamer. After 2 years into leading the Rainbow Six 3 division for PMS, she and co-founder of PMS (Valkyrie) decided to take their gaming in a new direction.  This is when she applied to become a member of Ubisoft’s Frag Dolls team.

Now you can find Brooke spending most of her time practicing for FPS tournaments, traveling the across the U.S. and encouraging more women to play games and especially to compete.  When not gaming she is working hard in school to achieve her bachelors degree as a video game animator.  Brookelyn’s other interest outside gaming include: designing toys, sewing, Mac makeup and dancing.

Hattabaugh is thrilled to be a part of the Frag Dolls, inspire other female gamers and to eventually partake in the actual creation and development of video games themselves – it just doesn’t get more “hardcore” than that.
