Mad Maestro Must Return!
October 08, 05:30 PM

While I was listening to my favorite collaboration of classical music one night, I thought of a game that someone mentioned to me a long time ago that I haven’t had the chance to play - Mad Maestro for the Playstation 2! If you haven’t heard of this game before, let me give you a little introduction on it. Mad Maestro is a game in which the player gets to conduct a classical symphony to songs like the Hungarian Dance No. 5, Swan Lake, and Night on Bald Mountain. Now you might not know any of those songs by name, but I bet if you heard them you would say, “Oh yea! I’ve heard that one before!” The game, as you would correctly assume, is rhythm based and requires the player to press a certain button at the right time, but there is also another element to it that makes it different.  Each button combination is pressure sensitive. This means that there are times when you would have to press a button hard or lightly in order to pull off the correct conduction of the orchestra. This was probably one of the most interesting things that I read about this game because it ties in well with classical music. When the conductor wants the orchestra to play pianissimo then he/she would make light movements, and when he/she wants the orchestra to play fortissimo he would wave his baton like crazy! …

Renelly Morel, also known as “Psyche” as a member of the all-girl video game team the Frag Dolls, has been gaming since the tender age of five. She may be one of the youngest Frag Dolls, but she is definitely one of the most deadly in competition.  Her competitive nature is a perfect complement to her team work during the heat of battle, where she excels in first-person shooters. Usually one of the most vocal members of Frag Dolls during completions, she aids her team in knowing where the enemies are positioned, how many enemies she took down, and what she is doing. Communication is key to this Frag Doll.

Psyche also plays a variation of games that include interactive games like Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, The legend of Zelda, and several Nintendo Ds games like phoenix Wright Ace Attorney. Psyche is known as a well rounded gamer who is always in the know about new games and the gaming industry.

Psyche began her pro-career through membership with the PMS Clan in the PS2 division of SOCOM and made the leap to Xbox with Ghost Recon 2 due to her passion for gaming and wanting a more cooperative game play experience. In December 2006, Psyche was part of the four member Frag Doll team that took first place in the Rainbow Six Vegas tournament at CPL in Dallas.

When she’s not taking down the competition, she’s currently a student majoring in psychology with a minor in communications at New York City College. She is also co-host’s a radio show on Sirius radio called Level Up. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, playing video games (of course), fencing, Boxing, and learning about psychology.
