Sabre’s Music To Game By A new blog series for all you music lovers and gaming enthusiasts! In this series, I’ll showcase a number of cool bands and songs that I think are perfect for listening to while gaming. We’ll break down musical selections by game genre, type, and I’ll even throw in some of my favorite songs from video game soundtracks. I’ll also do some special features with YOUR gaming music suggestions - so don’t forget to leave a comment and let me know what you listen to while gaming! MUSIC FOR THIRD (3rd) AND FIRST (1st) PERSON SHOOTERS - PART 1 With all the shooters the Frag Doll team has been playing lately, I’ve found that these songs totally get me in the shooting mood! Band: E.S. Posthumus Song: Unstoppable I’m a huge fan of the band E.S. Posthumus, and I find that their “epic/classical” sound is perfect for most types of gaming - especially shooters. With third (and first) person shooters, I tend to lean toward instrumental songs with heavy bass, guitars, and drums, and the song “Unstoppable” hits the spot! Give the song a try - it starts getting good at 0:43 and takes off at 2:02! Band: Les Friction Song: Here Comes The Reign The evolution of the band E.S. Posthumus is Les Friction, and “Here Comes The Reign” is a great piece to game to. Shooters instantly feel more intense and badass when I …

Kimberly Weigend, also known as Sabre from the all-girl competitive gaming team the Frag Dolls, has been gaming since she was very young. Her parents established Game Parlor, a retail game store, when she was five years old, and every waking moment outside of school was spent playing person-to-person games. It’s no surprise that growing up in a game-loving environment fueled Sabre’s passion for gaming, which now extends to table-top RPGs, card, board, miniatures, and video games. Some of Sabre’s earliest and best memories include playing classic games like D&D, Risk, Magic, Warhammer, as well as competing in local tournaments for StarCraft, Unreal Tournament, and Quake 2.
With all of her gaming knowledge and experience in operating a retail chain, Sabre decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management at George Mason University. After college, Sabre decided to work on some creative projects and began to collaborate with various independent film crews and photographers around the Washington DC area. In addition to these creative ventures, Sabre works as a business analyst for a consulting company for government and private sector organizations. Although these efforts are fun, creative and professional, Sabre felt the call to return to her gaming roots and joined Pandora’s Mighty Soldiers (PMS), the largest all-female gaming clan in February 2010.
As a Frag Doll, Sabre would like to provide a positive image for female gamers, both casual and competitive. Sabre will strive to reach out and support women who are new to gaming and the gaming industry, and will continue to research the social aspects of gaming and how different interactions can affect how women and men perceive their online gaming experiences.
