Yeah so I was playing “The Creed” the other day. You know ‘cause like I get to do that kinda stuff. I hang with that crowd. It’s all in a day’s… OMGZ, I played Assassin’s Creed!!! Sorry just couldn’t keep up the nonchalance a second longer. I did some free-running, some horsey riding, little bit of pick-pocketing. I also climbed to the highest point in Acre. It was stomach-lurchingly high. It wasn’t just the distance to the ground but the fact that you could still see the people going about their daily business like tiny medieval ants far below. It was a fantastic experience and I feel very lucky to be allowed access on such a highly anticipated game with a lot of mystery surrounding some of the storyline.
It’s easy to talk about the ambition and possible reality of a game from a distance, based on all the stuff you read and hear. But it’s only when you sit down with a game that you really get the first inkling of its scope and the work that’s gone into it. It’s great to see an epic adventure on this scale fast approaching. It’s one of the first action adventures that - for me - really feels like part of a new generation of games. Gameplay that just couldn’t have been achieved on older platforms. Hopefully it’s the first of many.
It’s also been my great pleasure to get to meet the lovely Jade Raymond. Her passion for Assassin’s Creed really knows no bounds… well ok it knows two bounds - she refused to let me cut off her ring finger like the lead character Altair, and won’t wear his replica costume - what a girly! Other than that though her enthusiam and professionalism is incredible.
Her patience for being asked about being ‘a woman in a man’s world’ is probably a little stretched by now (something I understand more than most) so instead I concentrated on the matter at hand, Assassin’s Creed.
