Interview: Rayman Raving Rabbids [E3 2006]
May 10, 6:05 pm

With E3 unloading it’s bounty of gaming info on us, we’re all getting rather excited. Some of us over certain games we’ve been waiting for with great anticipation, some over the next gen consoles with their new controllers and promises of graphical delights, and some just wanting to watch the war of words unfold between the console giants as we sit back and laugh.  Knowing that we’ll buy them all anyway. Underneath all the hubbub, though, what we really want to see are the innovations that we’ll actually use on our nightly forays into gaming - and they of course come from creative individuals coming up with engaging storylines and immersive gaming experiences just like they always have since gaming began.

Rayman is famed not just for being a fun game but for stretching the boundaries of platform gaming and opening developers minds as to the possibilities within the genre. It was no mean feat for Michel Ancel to create a game that paved the way for the generation of amazingly successful platformers that have been the heart of the gaming world for years. I was very pleased to get a chance to chat with Adrian Lacey the Game Manager on the upcoming Rayman being shown of at E3, and to find out what Rayman will be doing for gaming in the next generation.
