360 tours the nation of Glasgow
Nov 22, 3:58 pm

Back at the start of the month, after spending the whole day at the Annual British Cell Adhesion Molecules Conference, I returned home to find about a million missed calls on my mobile. To my dismay they were from my manager, fearing the worst I put on my bravest face and called back…

Only to find out that I had to be at a VIP 360 party in Glasgow in an hour. And yes VIP does mean free food and drink!

There was one small complication, my brother was over and this was his first evening in the fair land of the United Kingdom. Would he want to go? I edged into the sitting room ready to spring the question on him when I realised I had nothing to fear, I was inviting a 23 year old bloke to a VIP party with shiny glorious 360’s and lots of food and booze. He of course said yes!

So off we ran to the mysterious land of Glasgow, where we were met off the train by none other than our very own Kitt. She showed us the way through darkened back alleys lit only by thousands of fairy lights to the lighthouse. We got our 360 wrist bands and ascended the five floors, quiet with anticipation.

The lovely Robin greeted us and pulled back the curtains….. to reveal a glowing green tent full to the brim with pods. And oh yes those pods contained 360s stuffed with an assortment of wondrous near completion games.

Kitt and I hurried off to find a two person game and settled with Dead or Alive 4. We won one round each and stopped at that because there were so many other games to play. Perfect Dark was there, as was King Kong (among many others) but the one that really struck me was Condemned. This little gem allowed you to photograph corpses in all sorts of special ways. By which of course I mean that it was a forensics investigation game. Truly eerie and you got a gun later on too! The graphics on Condemned were truly superb, the 360 at it’s launching best.

So just in case you missed me with all the shiny xboxes I just thought I’d slip that in again:

Thanks to my brother for taking the photos, to Robin from Microsoft for inviting us, and to Kitt for not demanding that we finish that game of DoA4!!
