The PC is now officially upgraded, the new laptop is displaying a Fragdolls background, and I am almost ready to fire up iTunes and get my spangly new iPod loaded up. It has been a good week for tech! Of course it has not been without its difficulties, as good things do not come easily…..

Problem number one: The PC disappears off to the shop, and I am left to hunt out the installation CDs.  Obviously I know exactly where I put these after I moved to this flat.  Or do I ... an hour later the flat is uncomfortably full of mysterious boxes, never opened since the move, that have been hiding in mysterious cupboards. The stepladder has had a full tour of the building and I am at a loss. I know what the box looks like that they used to be in, and am baffled that some of the manuals I know were also in that box are in my hand ... but no CDs, not anywhere.

Problem solved by talking to the lovely assistant in the shop who informed me that it was fine, the PC would in fact still work, and all I needed was the CD given to me when I installed the internet here. Phew!

Problem number two: Where is the CD for the net?  Ok so this one wouldn’t have been with the others as it was a more recent addition to the collection. New search initiated.  And failed. Unfortunately I not only had a Frag Doll gaming session organised for the next night, but had also signed up to play in a Far Cry Instincts: Predator tournament, neither of which I want to miss or drop out of.  So instead of actually trying to sort it I decided I had had enough and went out to a convenient flat party at a mates round the corner! As I sat on the floor, drink in hand, relaying my problems, I was overwhelmed by the helpfulness of people.

So this little problem was solved by firstly being offered the use of a mates TV and internet, and secondly by one person realising they used the same internet provider as me, but unlike me had managed to retain their discs!! Thank goodness for people with a decent memory of where they hide things.

Now all is back to how it should be. I am surrounded by tech, the internet once again at my fingertips, playing Animal Crossing and listening to the PC happily reinstall stuff.

*does the happy dance*
