Raving Nicely
Jun 22, 1:40 pm

The whole world seems to be up in arms over Manhunt 2. I have read about it in the paper, I have read about it on the web, and I have seen it on all the forums. I don’t really have an opinion on Manhunt 2 as I have never played it - but, then, neither have most of the press.  Yes some of the press released information about the game play does sound horrible, but I have no idea how *exactly* they are portraying it in-game. I do believe that limits can be pushed to far and that we are able to ban things for a reason, but having never played the game I just can’t find any real affection for either side.

To turn myself away from all this talk of horror I thought I might play a nice little game designed with nothing more in mind then to be generally enjoyable. It is a game that I have played before but on a different format, and really quite enjoyed. It is also a game where the intro appears to be drawn on a cartoon strip of toilet paper, and informs me that the Rabbids have flown in from outer space. I get to shoot things, and they turn into stars. Happy stars for me to collect.

Rayman Raving Rabbids on the DS is quite a different little ditty to playing it on the Wii. I was at first going to say that it was not as much fun, but I have decided that it is merely lacking the whole body experience that only the Wii can give. It has cute platform levels, both using the stylus and the key pad, and it’s got lots of super mini games, it certainly keeps me happy on my daily commute and it’s not nasty or vicious - it just screams at me and pulls funny faces.

Rayman also has blue skies and green grass. The good old days are back I tells ya. The DS is keeping them alive, even if its big brother Wii is turning its eye to gang culture and getting itself involved in a governmental banning. While the Wii indulges in a little serial killing the DS is plaiting its pigtails and making a daisy chain. Now there’s a big sigh of relief for us all.
